Last week I went for a walk around Otley Chevin in West Yorkshire. A quick search online found the Friends of Chevin Forest website which has a PDF leaflet available for download (scroll to bottom of page) which describes a 3mile Geology Trail walk around the forest. There’s also a series of MP3 downloads that you can play as you follow the walk in which local experts describe the geology that you encounter. It was an enjoyable and fairly easy walk (although I left it a little late in the day so the last half mile or so was covered in darkness – not to be advised). The walk is a circular route from East Chevin Quarry car park and is well signed (although some of the numbered markers at ground level which highlight features on the audio trail could be easily missed). I tracked the route, which can be seen in the map below, or you can download a GPX log of my route if you want to follow it on your phone/GPS.
